3D Has Officially Been Democratized

The New Panasonic AG3DA1 is officially up for pre-sale. Panasonic announced that this full 3D, dual lense wonder that records on two 32 GB SD cards can be custom made and pre-ordered with a $1k deposit. The list price is a high, but do-able $21k.

Although it is not 3D, personally, I currently use the Sony HVR-A1U at left. I love its small size (thanks to CMOS technology) and picture quality. It shoots SD and HD and has 24 P / Cineframe options. It records to mini DV or hard drive (sold separately - about $900). The only drawback is that, if you are shooting on mini DV and using a tripod, the tape deck is inconveniently located under the tripod plate - no doubt as an "incentive" to buy the hard drive. Nevertheless, at the bargain price and quality, the hard drive is a a good, infinately useful investment. The only other note is you must have good lighting with this camera. CMOS does not deliver a strong picture quality in low light.

I suspected the next big thing after HD was upon us and very big. After the recent success of Avatar and now Alice in Wonderland selling out in IMAX theatres, I believe this is it!
